Rules & Standards

This is not an “elite” listing, but we do have a certain standard that we expect of the sites that are listed:

1. Submit as many sites as you want!
   Each website may only be listed once.
2. Offensive or inappropriate websites will not be listed.
   We will not accept sites that contain inappropriate material (e.g. pornography or hate material). Sites with artistic (or otherwise unobtrusive) nudity will be approved at our discretion. If your site includes a lot of profanity or explicit content we ask that you please mention possible adult content in your listing’s description.
3. Distasteful or otherwise annoying websites will not be listed.
   Sites that employ use of “sticky caps” (My nAmE iS DoH), excessive and/or obtrusive animated Gif images, or poorly contrasting colours are (in our collective opinion) in exceedingly poor taste and will not be listed. We do not wish to blind anyone.
4. Redirect URLs will not be listed.
   Sites that make use of redirecting URLs such as .cjb.net, .dot.nu, .tk, etc will not be accepted. Submit yourreal URL.
5. Active websites only, please.
   Please do not submit a site to Glitter if it is currently on hiatus, or is under major construction.
6. Keep your site information simple, short, and to the point.
   Listing descriptions and titles should be thought of as summaries; consider that possible visitors may not bother to read a long overly-detailed description. Pique their interest to entice them to click your link. If profanity or non-alphanumeric characters are included in the title or description of any submission, they may be removed or edited at our discretion. Just keep it simple.
7. Please state the language of the website if it is not English.
   Your site description should describe to the visitor what the website is about and what language it is in (if not English).
8. Websites that contain advertisements will be closely scrutinized. 
   Please keep advertising to a minimum on submitted websites. This includes Pay-Per-Post blogs. If we find it excessive, we will not list your link.
9. Shops will be very closely scrutinized.
   We are interested in listing independent small business owners, especially if what the entrepreneur is selling is made by him/herself. If your listing is denied, you are welcome to plead your case.
10. Please link back to Glitter!
    It’s not required, but it is nice. Help promote this web directory by adding one of the buttons or links to your site. Keeping the flow of links going between websites helps everyone. We link to you, you link to us: it’s just good “netiquette”.

If any standards are not met, your submission may be purged from the queue and will not be listed. If for any reason any listed site becomes inappropriate, inaccessible, or suddenly does not meet our standards at any time, we may delete your listing. These standards are in place to serve the purpose of preserving the integrity of this directory, and therefore keep it useful to both visitor and site owner.
