Above are the core fundamentals of an Assassin’s life. What they live by, what they all stay true to. Regardless of anything else to break the creed is to break all laws and risk becoming outcast. While Altair and Ezio may be the most well known of assassins, they were far from being the only ones.
No, other assassins existed, following the above creed, staying in the shadows. Yet like Altair and Ezio their mission was clear. Defeat the templars from the shadows themselves. Strike them down while they were in plain sight. Never be found out as to your links, and never harm an innocent.
While the templars number more then the assassins could ever hope to achieve, the assassins are still a threat to the templars. After all, they manage to sneak in, blending with the crowds. Never getting noticed until it’s too late. It is the skill the assassin is known for, coupled with speed and agility – and an arsenal of weapons some hidden and others less so – and an assassin is a formidable opponent.
Their organization is impressive, featuring Novices, as well as masters. They are led by the grand master, and look after their own. While it may not always be possible they try and care for each other as much as possible. Always they somehow find a new job for an injured party to do if they can.
But when Templars threaten the freedom of the people with their bullying ways, all assassins become equal. All assassins must do their job, following the creed and trying to bring in a new peace to the world.
However, everything is relative. While Assassins would see the Templars are evil, what about the Templars viewpoints on it all?
Led by Duilio Rosario, on the Island of Malta, part of the Malta Island Chain is a little known branch of Templars. Here they stand against the Ottoman Turks, and seek to control the citizens of Malta
After the current King of Spain in his wisdom gifted the island chain of Malta to our cause upon request it didn’t take the Templars long to establish their power. While they are fighting to keep control of the islands against the heathens like the Ottoman Turks, they have their own reasons for being there. Rumour that artifacts of power and religious importance hide in the churches of this small island community.
In the Citta Notabile, more commonly known as Valetta, a templar cathedral is being constructed. This has been the cause of much unrest – that has been viciously put down. The foolish citizens do not know that this is for the greater good.
Beneath the cathedral there are many vaults and hidden passageways – these have already been completed. The citizens may have grown restless due to some of them having been employed by us for the building works. However the new religion is more important, and the cathedral will bring greater glorification to God then can ever be imagined.
There might be strange screams coming from beneath the church, but we need somewhere to keep our prisoners. Maybe beneath a holy area of worship the assassins that are our enemies and believers of peace without control, they will not strike. As for the vaults, they give us place to contemplate our most holy quest for control undisturbed and in relative safety.
Our aims? To recover the artifacts lost to us, and to take control of the world as it rightfully should be ours to rule. To ensure that all those who stand against us, all those who rise against us will be crushed totally. This is our calling, to seek revenge on all those who would call us Heretics.
